About Me!

My name is Laura Opdam and I have been working within the Disability field for the past five years. During which time I have worked with a range of different companies supporting individuals physical and mental impairments- ages 4 to 85 years old

I have extensive understanding pertaining to the inner workings of NDIS report writing, Mental Health/ Behavioural/ Individualised Support Planning, one-on-one Support Work and effective communication with Families/ Stakeholders.

I found a love for Disability Support Work six years ago after enrolling in an AUSLAN language course. During on of our final exams we were to engage in our local community ‘deaf dinner’ held by TAFE. The stories and experiences passed around during this event were both inspiring and eye-opening.

We live in a society that unfairly caters to the able bodied and closing this gap is incredibly vital to the wellbeing of our entire community. I wish to use my experience, knowledge and abled mind/ body to give the tools necessary for creating independence and a sense of livelihood.

Thus my journey into Disability and the creation of

Bright Minds Disability Support.
